Tanzania with One Nature Hotel Nyaruswiga

The Serengeti is one of my favourite places to photograph, the vast landscapes are forever changing with the seasons. I’ve also had great luck with the incredible wildlife, however it always makes me want to come back for more!

The journey to the Serengeti from London is not a short one, last year I did London to Nairobi, Nairobi to JRO, JRO to Serengeti. However decided against for 2 reasons. Our connection in Nairobi was about 45 minutes which is very stressful and our bags got lost and only just showed up in time for JRO before going remote into the Serengeti. With that one was also robbed!

I went via Doha this time which is always a good option…Ish. I’m a big fan of Qatar airways however not such a big fan of the ban Qatar has throughout some of the middle-east. Meaning having to fly around Saudi/UAE making the flight about an hour and a half longer than it needs to be!

The small flight into the Serengeti is one of my favourite flights in the world, it’s such a beautiful journey. We where greeted by 4 staff from One Nature who had set us up drinks and coffee with snacks. We met our guide Peter who talked to us about our stay, what we wanted to do, what we wanted to see. Peter had such a big passion for wildlife and was excited as us to be out.

The One Nature camp,

As a professional photographer I’ve been lucky enough to stay and photograph some of the best hotels in the world. However the One Nature camp was on another level of uniqueness, with only 13 rooms the hotel feels instantly special. Each tent is like a small house, with 2 showers, living area, office and the best view in town. The camp also had a swimming pool and a jacuzzi. The camp also makes a massive effort to be zero waste, all of the water was glass produced by one nature, it was very hard to find any plastic anywhere. They are also mostly powered by solar. We had so many great memories with One nature, from the incredible dinning experiences to drinks at the top of the hill at sunset. The team made every effort to ensure we had a memorable experience. Below is a selection of my favourite moments at the camp!

Safari

We spent most mornings out on safari, starting early gave us the best chance of seeing wildlife active. Our guide Peter was super knowledgeable about the area but also the wildlife itself. Down to ever bird we saw he explained what they where. The other great point from a photographers aspect is that he understood composition and lighting. He knew when our car was in a good position or not. The car was well setup for the best wildlife viewing, with only 4 seats and loads of room as well as being opened side, it was the perfect vehicle. Below is a selection of my favourite moments out of Safari.

Our 4 night stay was absolutely beautiful, with incredible wildlife encounters not to mention the unmatched experience at the camp. Please do explore me instagram for more travels!
